NapLab’s Verdict

The Puffy Cloud is a 10-inch memory foam mattress with a medium feel (5 out of 10) and deep sinkage, earning an overall score of 8.87 out of 10 from NapLab. It suits a wide range of sleepers, with NapLab finding it comfortable across all positions for those under 250 lbs. Side sleepers in particular tend to benefit from the deep body contouring. Heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer feel may want to consider the Puffy Lux Hybrid or Puffy Royal Hybrid instead. For an all-foam design, cooling performance was a standout, scoring 9.0 out of 10 and measuring 1.3°F cooler than the average surface temperature across all mattresses NapLab has tested.

Puffy Cloud Mattress Overview

In NapLab's review, sleep experts take a closer look at a 10-inch all-foam mattress that ranks in the top 28% of 400+ mattresses tested and top 10 among memory foam models. Their team ran the Puffy Cloud mattress through 10 standardized, data-driven performance tests covering cooling, pressure relief, motion transfer, response time, edge support, bounce, and off-gassing.

The Cloud is Puffy's entry-level mattress, a medium-feel (5/10) all-foam design with three layers. It sits at the foundation of Puffy's lineup, below the Puffy Lux Hybrid and the Puffy Royal Hybrid. NapLab found it well-suited across all sleeping positions for those under 250 lbs. For sleepers over 250 lbs, or those who prefer more responsive support, NapLab notes the Puffy Lux Hybrid or Puffy Royal Hybrid would be a better choice.

Puffy Cloud Review: Design

The 10-inch Puffy Cloud is built with three foam layers across a thin knit cover that allows for more direct body contouring than a quilted cover would. NapLab notes the construction prioritizes cooling and pressure relief, the two areas where it scores highest. All foams are CertiPUR-US® certified, and NapLab confirmed this version of the Cloud is fiberglass-free.

The gel-infused memory foam and cooling cover work together to manage heat effectively. NapLab notes this combination performed surprisingly well for an all-foam design, as foam mattresses, particularly those with memory foam, typically struggle more with heat retention than other mattress types.

Construction

  1. Cover: Thin knit cover, soft to the touch with a bit of stretch. Non-removable; manufacturer recommends spot cleaning.
  2. Memory Foam (2"): Gel-infused memory foam top layer that provides body contouring and temperature regulation.
  3. Poly Foam (2"): Transitional poly foam that provides comfort and support between the memory foam and base layer.
  4. Support Foam (6"): High-density support foam base that provides durability and full-body support.

Puffy Cloud Review: Support

NapLab rates the Puffy Cloud at 5 out of 10, a true medium feel. Their tester described the sensation as a classic memory foam cradle with deep, enveloping sinkage. Despite the memory foam construction, material response time was a standout at 9.6 out of 10: the Cloud recovers in 0.2 seconds versus the 0.41-second average, which NapLab notes prevents any stuck feeling and makes moving around easier than typical for this material type.

Pressure relief was strong (9.0 out of 10) across all positions in NapLab's testing, with no significant pressure buildup detected at any point. The deep sinkage proved particularly accommodating at the shoulders and hips, the areas where side sleepers typically experience the most pressure buildup. Motion transfer scored 9.0 out of 10, edge support 8.6 out of 10, and off-gassing 5.6 out of 10, the latter reflecting a 16-day off-gassing period, longer than the 7-day average NapLab records across all mattresses tested.

For sleepers over 250 lbs, or those who prefer firmer support, NapLab notes the 10-inch profile is below the 12-inch average and the deeper sinkage is less suited to heavier bodies, particularly for back and stomach sleepers. For those sleepers, NapLab notes the Puffy Lux Hybrid or Puffy Royal Hybrid would be a better choice.

Puffy Cloud Review: Rating

NapLab's company evaluation gave Puffy a perfect 10 out of 10, noting the 365-night trial is significantly above the 173-night average across all mattresses in their database, with free shipping and returns included. The body-contouring feel, cooling performance, and consistent support are the standout qualities NapLab highlights in their review.
