Give yourself the chance to rest and rejuvenate
In this blog you will discover:
If you are a parent, either new or seasoned, we would love to hear from you about how you are sleeping. Or not sleeping. Studies show new parents, in particular, can spend up to 6 years sleep deprived and some may never be able to bounce back to a healthy sleep routine.
We spoke to some parents and did some research. It’s funny how many parents, despite being sleep deprived, and despite the heroic work they do, don’t think they deserve to rest more.
You seriously deserve to rest and you need to rest.
Parents are selfless when it comes to their time. Parenthood is rewarding but should it have to be so self-sacrificing when it comes to sleep, rest, and health? The more rested you are the more you can accomplish with your family.
From what we discovered; these are the most common reasons why parents are not able to maintain healthy schedules of sleep:
1. Parents are investing more time and money into their children's room than their own.
Many parents spend more time setting up their children's bedrooms for comfort than necessary. You deserve a relaxing and healthy space to sleep just as much as your children. In fact, you need it more.
Usually, kids don’t have as many issues as adults do when it comes to sleeping. Parents, on the other hand, can have long lists of issues. Back pain is one of the leading reasons why adults don’t get a good night’s sleep. But there are easy remedies for back pain; a good mattress is essential.
More seasoned bodies require additional back and neck support to ensure you wake up re-energized. Investing in a Puffy Lux Mattress + pillow combo can really change your sleep game. The Puffy Lux provides relief for people who suffer from back pain or people who experience sleep disruption due to overheating.
2. Parents seem to be putting their children’s nutritional needs before their own
Did you eat something very unhealthy last night, or maybe you simply didn’t eat at all? We have all been there. The fact is that this does more harm than good for our ability to sleep well and wake up refreshed.
Sugar and carbohydrates too close to bedtime can actually force us to lose even more sleep. Sleep we so desperately need! Try eating early with your children and reducing sugar 2 hours before it’s time to hit the lights.
3. Parents are catching up on entertainment too late into the night
When the children are asleep, it can often be a gateway for parents to finally turn the cartoons off and binge watch favorite shows. Not to mention the need to catch up on the memes from the day, and news, and the backlog of phone notifications.
But how much of what we consume at night is retained? You can break up these entertainments binges into smaller segments so that you can spend more time at night sleeping, but still enjoy what you love.
Here are some ideas on how you can segment your entertainment and consumption:
